Why you should welcome adversity

Anytime we compete in a physical contest, there are 2 scenarios possible. The first is we feel great and can compete as we planned to.

The other scenario is we don’t feel great. We have a physical issue, mentally we’re not so sharp or anything along those lines. And at that point, we have a decision to make: how do you proceed?

  • Do you throw in the towel and give up?

  • Do you commit to trying again when you’re at your best?

  • Have the mentality ‘today wasn’t my day?’

This analogy is by itself a test but it also works for life. We will undoubtedly face challenges when we are not at our best. Yeah it might feel disappointing, frustrating or annoyed that we aren’t at our best when a challenge arises. Or, we could welcome the challenge as just another test. After all, how do we know what we’re capable of if we’re not tested in ways we haven’t been tested. Sometimes we get attached to an idea of how a situation will play out and when it turns out differently, we need to decide how to deal with it.

You cannot control what happens. You can always control your response. Cementing this mindset will serve you regardless of what life throws your way.
