Runaway brain

Our brains do not shut off. It’s not how we’re built. It’s important to recognize that because sometimes our thoughts continue in an unhelpful way that digs us into a deeper hole. Once we recognize and accept our brains ‘need’ something to process, we can change what we give it to process.

We naturally gravitate towards negative thoughts. They are a protection mechanism to keep us safe. If left unchecked, our brains will spin on negative thoughts.

There are 2 ways to overcome this. First, recognize this will be the default process for your brain. When you find yourself thinking negative thoughts, just acknowledge it. Recognize it happening and accept it for what it was [which is your brain doing what it’s supposed to do]. Second, replace the negative thoughts with some positive ones.

What good things are happening for you right now?

What are you excited about?

Think about a previous win or accomplishment. Celebrate that again and remember you can replicate your success.
