Pain in the brain??
Think about how we grow stronger physically. We push ourselves past our previous limits and move into a higher high. That process involves discomfort [the phrase ‘no pain no gain’ comes to mind]. The point is clear: we need to stress our bodies to the point where we develop new muscle.
Our minds need a similar approach. I’m certainly not suggesting we make our brains hurt like our bodies but… a good comparison might be stress levels. If a situation is increasing our stress levels, then maybe we’re in the right space. But instead of that stress being a burden, why not reposition it to be a blessing and opportunity?
So if you find yourself in a new, stressful situation [it could be a familiar stressful situation too], how could you reframe that stress/situation in a way to ask yourself ‘what opportunity is this presenting that will allow me to learn something about myself?’
‘How will this help me grow?’
‘How will I feel after I move through this?’
