What is a Growth Mindset?

In my coaching course, we spent a good deal of time talking about growth vs fixed mindset. It’s a concept that stems from our view of whether we can grow and change or not. As we get older and face different challenges that inevitably come our way, what’s our mindset as we face those challenges?

Do you welcome new challenges? What about challenges you don’t choose?

Is it a burden or an opportunity?

One of my favorite phrases is that life is happening for you instead of to you. And that is where a growth mindset can be developed. Instead of ‘this sucks, why me’ it’s ‘thank you!’ for giving me a chance to look within and figure out how I can grow as a person.

Who we were yesterday is not who we are stuck with [especially if we don’t like certain aspects of ourselves]. Your thought patterns, behaviors and beliefs can all shift so long as you’re willing to put in the work.
